Box decoration - Art from waste

Box Decoration - Art from waste

I have decorated waste boxes with marriage invitation cards, and table calendar designs.

Things required are:-

Table Calendar designs ( I have used 2012 old designs in which it comes Indian Culture paintings )
Glue - Indian Fevicol
Colors of your choice.

It's quite similar to decoupage, but I have did my own style of decoupage box.

1) First, I have trimmed the designs and borders. Usually table calendar designs are thick, so I just removed a layer, so it becomes a thin sticker like.

2) Pasted the trimmed designs and borders on the box, and applied Glue + water paste as varnish, so it looks like real painting.

3) Applying varnish is optional, but it looks glossy. I haven't applied varnish for this box decoration.

Waste Invitation cards crafts

In most of our Indian homes, we get Wedding Invitation cards, and instead of throwing it, we could do some cute crafts .

I did this box using Invitation card. I made it with lid, so I used to store my lip balms/stationary products in this box.

Some of the card design looks classy, so I don't like to throw it , and turned into decorative box.

In many of the Invitation cards, you would notice, lord images, and here I have cutted lord Venkateshwara images.

I used 2012 old calendar as my base for wall hanging ( This is 2103 recent craft)

I pasted the cropped image in center, and painted green. Cute wall hanging is ready.

For framing - In one of the wedding invitation card, I noticed Lord Ganapati and Sai babi with their mantras. So I just framed them with black cello tape.

Bookmark :- Draw your favorite design, and collect all the small desgins to border in invitaiton cards, and paste them. Here I have drawn a vintage girl, and in her skirt, I used small floral desgins for her skirts, top, bag, and belts, these are all from Waste Invitation cards.

Instructions:

1) Draw any cartoons or your personal favorite figures on the cardboard. I drew a vintage girl because this was 15 yrs old bookmark. I did this bookmark during my school days.

2) I painted using watercolors and cut out the many designs from the invitation cards.

3) Finally decorated the girl with cut out designs and glitter pens for her jewelry.

4) Once you completed the design, you could highlight using glitter pens of same color.

Here, I have used baby pink for her long skirt and outlined using pink and green glitter pens.
